Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the motor is running then it should drain water. If the motor is running and the washer will drain but not agitate or spin, the motor coupler is likely broken.

If it will not run in any cycle and the lid is shutting properly, the lid switch is likely broken or faulty. If the is left open or if the lid switch fails, the washer motor will not start and run.

If the motor is humming and not starting, I would suspect a small garment may be jammed inside the drain pump. The drain pump is driven by the washer motor and if the drain pump is jammed, the motor will only hum.

I suggest removing the washer cabinet and then remove the pump from the motor leaving the two hoses attached and then see if the washer will operate. Note: The motor is not going to run with the lid switch harness connector disconnected from the top of the cabinet.

To remove the washer cabinet the control panel must be placed in the service position. There is likely a screw along the back of each control panel end cap to remove first. Then slide the console towards the front and lift it up and hinge it over the rear panel. Follow the instructions in the image below for removing the cabinet.

The drain pump will be located directly in front of the motor. The pump is held in place by two spring clips. Pry the two clips off and pull the pump from the motor shaft. You can move the pump over to the left and out of the way and see if the motor will run. Remember, the lid switch harness plug must be reconnected or the motor will not operate.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

I had the same issue; A repair guy showed up to fix my Hot water Switch and a few days later when I wanted to do some laundry, I noticed that water flows proper but no agitation or motor running. I called the repair guy and he told me $50.00 to come back out to check it, plus repair cost and it will take one week to get to me. So, I took some tips from you, opened the Control Panel....viola! the idiot did not fasten one of the harness, I fastened it and now I have agitation, spinning...etc. My washer now works!!! I called the repair guy back and told him how I felt, needless to say that he was "flabber-whelmed and over-gasted" that I was able to open the control panel and fix the problem. Thank you so much Joey!

Q:

Water Temp. issue Admiral ATW4475VQ0

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your washer and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number atw4475vq0 and the symptoms you are describing indicate a failing water valve. This releases the water according to the setting you are putting the machine. The control board would usually not cause this action although it does control the valves functions. Here is a video that will help testing and troubleshooting. Just click the blue link above to be taken to the page. I trust this information will help you.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.
