Q:

RS ARP-1000ES AC not working ARP-1000ES

A:

Since the unit is completely dead, I recommend that you unplug the air conditioner and check the wiring connections for the outlet plug. Reconnect any loose wires.

If the wiring is okay, then you could have a bad control panel or a failed electronic control board in the unit.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com. I know how frustrating it can be to have an air conditioner but not have it be as cold as desired.

I have located the service manual for this model ARP-1000ES and it goes through several possible causes for the air conditioner to not cool properly with corresponding rememdies.

Possible causes for the air conditioner to not be as cool as it should be are:

  1. There is a window opened.
  2. There is a source of heat operating in the room (burner, lamp, etc.), or the room is crowded.
  3. The air filter is clogged. (Wouldn't apply if recently changed)
  4. The capacity of the air conditioner is not suitable for the conditions or size of the room.
  5. The evaporator is frozen.

The remedies for correcting possible causes are as follows:

  1. Close the window.
  2. Remove/turn off the source of heat.
  3. Decrease the set temperature.
  4. Clean the filter.
  5. Change the purifier filter, if necessary.
  6. Do not make the appliance operating at too low temperature. (below 22 degrees C)

Hopefully one of these would apply to your situation and you can take corrective action to make the unit blow cooler. You may also click here to have a Sears Home Service Technician come to the home to diagnose/repair the unit. Just click the link above and you may set an appointment.

Hi, I just bought this model as used unit. Its compressor turns ON and runs for 10 seconds and turns OFF after every 30 seconds cycle. It means that after every 30 seconds it runs for 10 seconds, I left it running for 3-4 hours with no cooling effect at all. Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Jim, sorry for not answering your question. Since you just bought this model I recommend having a service technician take a look at the unit. I don't recommend completing any repairs on the unit because you don't want to void your warranty for tampering with the unit.

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the a/c unit turning on by itself. If it turns on by itself and it's set on zero, it would indicate the control board has failed. These units can be quite complicated to service and I would recommend having a technician check this first. I'm listing a site you can access, to schedule a tech to come out or for the nearest repair center. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
