Question and Answers

What can be causing the icemaker not to fill properly?

This type of problem is usually a problem with either the ice maker or the water valve. There is a way to determine which one is causing the problem. First you will need to remove the icemaker and empty the ice in it now. Don't connect it back to the wall, just reconnect the harness and move it to the side so you can use a measuring cup to catch the water coming out of the fill tube. Pull the front cover off the icemaker now to expose the module. There will be some test terminals marked on the module (I'm sending you a picture). Now using a well insulated jumper place it between terminals T-H and now press the freezer door light switch. The icemaker should now start into a cycle and if so after about 5 seconds remove the jumper. Be careful this is a hot (live) check. Keeping holding the light switch or the icemaker will stop cycling. At the end of the cycle it will fill and you need to time how long it fills using the measuring cup to catch the incoming water. The fill time should be 7.5 seconds and the fill amount should be approximately 4.5 ounces. If the time is less then 7.5 seconds the icemaker # W10122519 will need to be replaced. If the time is correct but you get less than 4.5 ounces the water valve # 67006531 will need to be replaced. Both parts are available at .
