Q:

ABB2524DEQ refrigerator and freezer not cooling ABB2524DEQ Amana Amana refrigerator

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your fridge and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number abb2524deq and if it’s not cooling at all, it first needs to be determined if the compressor is running. If the compressor is running, the problem will probably be in the seal system or with the compressor. It could be a low charge, a restriction or the compressor may not be pumping properly. These are checks a technician will be required to make.

If the compressor is not running, it could be a problem with the starting device, the compressor itself or if the condenser motor is not running.  If the motor is not running and the compressor is very hot, the motor will need to be replaced. A meter will be required to check the compressor and start device. Unless you have a meter and are confident in your repair skills, I recommend having a technician make these checks. I’m listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website. Just click the blue link above to be taken to the page. If you have further questions please resubmit your question for further information.

Q:

amana: why isnt my refrigerator cooling

A:

Refrigerator cooling problems show up when it is least convenient but have to be taken care of quickly to avoid food spoilage. The expert will review and respond for your model fridge but if you would like to check a similar post with a more generic answer, you can check the link below. Hope this helps.

A:

It sounds like you are hearing the overload on the compressor closing. When the overload closes the relay tries to start the compressor (that might be the buzzing sound) and if the compressor doesn't start the overload opens and turns the compressor off.

This could be caused by either a bad relay or a bad compressor.

A technician can test the relay and compressor and repair the refrigerator. The compressor has a 5 year parts and labor warranty. If the refrigerator is more than 5 years old and the compressor is out of warranty, the refrigerator is probably not worth repairing.

You can go to Home Services and get a Sears technician to repair the refrigerator.
