Thanks for the information about your refrigerator model ABB2227DEW, I will be glad to assist you. I will need more detailed information in order to provide you with an answer. Based on details of the condition of the evaporator there could be any number of causes for its condition that could vary from the main control to the compressor. I will need to clarify; does the evaporator have ice on it or does it have frost on it? Does the ice or frost cover the entire evaporator or just part of it? Is there ice under the evaporator an in the bottom of the freezer section?  Is there ice or frost anywhere else in the freezer section? Once I receive a reply addressing the above questions I will be happy to respond and help you solve the issue.  If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.

Thank you for submitting your question. I understand your concern and I will be happy to assist you. Open both of the fresh food doors and see if that will provide you somne leverage. If this does not work, I recommend getting a hair dryer or hot water to heat around the door to loosen it. If you choose to use the hair dryer be careful to not use too much heat, to not damage the door. The water will be messy but it should get the door open for you. I hope this helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

That link for a previous answer that James R. posted in the above response should help you with this problem. As noted in that answer, you may have a bad start relay on the compressor or the compressor could be locked up.

I recommend that you have a service technician diagnose and repair that type of failure. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.
