Question and Answers

Q:

washer stops at rinse cycle

A:

Thank you for your question. These older washer usually hold up pretty well. First, I would verify the cold water faucet is turned fully on. If that checks good, the lid switch needs to be checked. You should hear the switch click as the lid is being closed. You can also use a small non-metallic probe to push in on the lid switch. If the lid switch is not responding, you will need to replace the lid switch. If the lid switch is good, the water valve may not be activating the cold water fill and may need to be replaced. Q:

Why are the clothes still very wet after the spin cycle on my Maytag washer?

A:

Something like this on this model of washer is usually caused by poor tension on the drive belt. The motor mount assembly has springs that pull the motor back putting tension on the belt. This allows the water to drain & the unit to start building up speed without overloading the motor. I recommend having the motor mount & belts replaced. Other possibilities; brake & spin bearing.
