Q:

loud hummm A3316ABSERWW Americana (ge) Refrigerator s series

A:

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator model A3316ABSERWW; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you.  The humming noise you are experiencing could be from several locations, the key is to pinpoint the area the hum is coming from. This model does not show to be equipped with an automatic ice maker, but one could be added.  If the unit has the added ice maker there is a water inlet valve on the back of the unit that will make a humming sound when activated. Often apartments turn off the water supply and the ice maker, but if it gets accidentally turned back on there will be humming sounds often. Other components that can hum are the compressor, and fan motors, you will just have to pinpoint the sound to determine the cause, and then contact the apartment manager for a technician to come resolve the problem. If you choose to handle this yourself here is a link to Sears Home Services. Ron H.

Thank you for your question. Replacing and rewiring a part can be a challenge sometimes. Normally the brass connector will be for the hot wire and the silver connector for the common wire. In this case, the black is hot and the orange is common. Im attaching the wiring diagrams for this unit below. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.
