Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore Refrigerator #79579303900, freezer door will not press the button for the light, so the light stays on & doesn't allow the freezer to cycle properly.

A:

Refrigerator not working properly can be quite concerning. I researched your question and I happen to find part # 286A diagram for your Refrigerator but the other 2 I could not find. A suggestion I have is to visit Sears Parts Direct website and speak with a Sears associate to help you get part #243A & part #283 for your appliance. I attached the links below. Hope this helps!

I know it can be irritating when the light inside the refrigerator won't go out. Most of the time, this will not require, any parts, to correct this problem. Usually, leveling and adjusting the cabinet will correct this. Adjusting the cabinet, will also adjust the door. If the door still won't make contact with the switch, it then needs to be determined if, the door needs to be raised or if the door is, bowed outward.

The light will not contribute to the vents icing but if the door is not closing good, it will cause the vents to ice up. Again leveling and adjusting the cabinet may solve both problems. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, additional details will be helpful. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
