This TV is a CRT based rear projection TV. There are some different scenarios that can cause this symptom but a common one is that the fluid in the CRT has become contaminated. It is a common issue over time and what needs to happen is that a technician removes each CRT and replaces the fluid. The cost of the fluid is around 50 to 100 dollars but the procedure is labor intensive. With a TV this age the tubes will never be as bright as they were when it was new but it should clear it up a great deal.
