Technically, the cable in your photo is a type of clutch cable. You can locate the part numbers on the drawing at the link I've attached and then go to the 2nd link and order the part numbers you need to fix the problem.

I'll also mention that the manufacturer does not make much information available for these transmissions as they generally recommend that you replace the transmission if it is having problems.

My Ariens ride mower won't turn over and start unless my headlight switch is turned on. With the switch off, the engine won't even turn over. Once I turn on the headlight switch, the engine starts but the headlights will not go on. When I turn the engine off, as the engine dies, the headlights flash on for a second and then turn off along with the engine. Weird. What's wrong?

On the top end of the cable (under the dash) there is a pin that connects the cable to the lever assembly. On the lower end of the cable, there is a bracket that the cable slips into and then it hooks to the idler arm. I recommend you hook the cable into the idler arm first and then pull the cable back and slip it into the little bracket. This connection is shown in my photo below.
