Thank you for choosing ManageMyLife.com and allowing us the opportunity to help. The "F1" error code indicates a failed Electronic Oven Control (EOC). The EOC will need to be removed and replaced. It is also referred as the clock/timer. In my research, I found that your Kenmore oven is over ten years of age. The average life expectancy of an electric range is about 13 years. Part # 316207522 cost $180.25 plus shipping and tax. It may be more cost effective to replace this range with a New Kenmore Range that would then be under warranty. Click here to view new Kenmore Ranges at Sears.com.

If you decide to take on this repair, I will be happy to provide more detail instructions.

Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

Thank you again for allowing us to help. If you have follow-up question, please continue this existing thread to save on response time.

Q:

What does "F1" fault code mean?

A:

The "F1" fault code indicates a failed Electronic Oven Control (EOC). The EOC will need to be removed and replaced. Without having the complete model number I can not be certain of the part number of the EOC for your specific range. The User's manual is not clear and is misleading when it states "Reprogram Oven". It should may be read "Press Stop/Clear to stop beeping and then reprogram the control by selecting bake or broil to see if it will operate".

You can look up and order the part from Sears Parts Direct .

Q:

Why would my Kenmore oven model 790.9232 stop working and what does an F2 error code mean?

A:

Why would my Kenmore oven model 790.9232 stop working and what does an F2 error code mean?

An F2 error on your oven indicates a high resistance of the oven sensor probe. The cause could be a bad oven sensor or loose oven sensor circuit. It could also be a failed control board. Try turning the power off at the circuit breaker to your oven for at least one minute. This is a hard reset. If it does not work, I recommend calling a technician to diagnose and repair this problem.
