Q:

Air Compressor Model 921.166390 rebuild 921.166390

Q:

Can I get informational and safety replacement decals for the shroud on # 921166390 Craftsman-Parts Air-Compressor? 921166390

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

Unfortunately, we do not have any of the decals for this model of air compressor available for purchase. The only viable option I can foresee would be to make contact with a graphics supply to have them created for you.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

Can't find a part number for a broken part on a brand new compressor. 921166390 Craftsman Air compressor

A:

In doing further research, I now believe the valve in question is called an unloader valve. There is a picture of one here http://www.about-air-compressors.com/-sears-air-comrpessor-pressure-switch-issues-.html except that mine makes a right angle. How important is it to unload the air trapped over the piston to escape? Can I just plug the end of the tube and use the compressor anyway?

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
Sorry to hear of the difficulty you're having with the compressor you've just purchased, I know how frustrating that is to have occur.
It does appear the piece you are in need of is a component of the pressure switch, and is not being broken down singly. Since this compressor was just purchased in 11/13, there should be a standard one year warranty included with the purchase.
If so, I would recommend contacting us at 1-800-469-4663 so that we can record the purchase via the receipt if necessary (if we haven't already documented the purchase), and we will send you the replacement pressure switch under the manufacturer's warranty.
Hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

I am having the same problem as the customer who made the original post. The unloader valve does not properly release air from the cylinder hosing, therefore, the engine cannot restart. When I manually depress the unloader valve pin, the engine starts, and fills the tank properly. Like the original poster, I could not spend the time to diagnose this problem until after the warranty ran out and I really do not want to spend $47 on a pressure switch on a $125 air compressor that is only 2 years old. The problem started when the compressor was under warranty, but due to the extreme winter that occurred in Michigan in 2013, I had absolutely no spare time to deal with a broken brand new compressor. I purchased the item on 4/21/13 at store number 02050. It worked fine until February of 2014, at which time it would not start. Is there something you can do to alleviate the $47 price tag on a new pressure switch?
