Q:

A:

I can understand your confusion over your compressor just humming.  I've located a link that will give some probable causes for the humming.  Click here to view the link.  Though this link discusses a different model number,
the mechanics are likely going to be very similar.Keep in mind that an expert will be
responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and
instruction.  I hope this information will be helpful and have a nice day.

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your air compressor model 921.153500; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you with this. Based on the description you provided that the unit just hums, I would start by checking the motor. Test the voltage supplied to the motor, insure there is a full 120 volts ac supplied. _Always disconnect power supply before servicing the appliance and when testing live voltage be sure to wear proper safety equipment (gloves and eye protection) also be aware of sharp metals on product_If there is power, unplug the unit from power supply and remove the front shroud to access the blower wheel, try turning the wheel, there will be resistance but should turn. If it does turn, now try to start the unit (reinstall shroud first) if it does not start you will need to disassemble the pump from the motor and  test to see if motor now runs , if it does not take the motor into a motor shop for testing. If it runs disconnected the issue is most likely a worn binding pump assembly. Here is a link to Sears Parts Direct if you need to order parts.  If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.

Q:

i have a companion compresser when u turn it on it pressures up fine then when it draws down it tries to kick back on it hums untill it trips breaker.

A:

This type of problem is often caused by a failed check valve (part E100302). You can try cleaning it. If that does not help then it will need to be replaced. You can order this part from the Sears PartsDirect website.
