Question and Answers

Q:

air compressor question 919.195.411

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Craftsman Air Compressor, Model: 919.195411. From reviewing the details on your model, Next time the breaker trips turn the air compressor off at the pressure switch. If you hear air leaking, the check valve in the tank likely causes the problem. If you do not hear any leaks, the problem is likely a defective motor. To be sure, you can check the amp draw of the motor with an amp clamp. If you have an amp clamp, you can hook it around the black wire going to the motor. Then turn the unit on and observe the meter. If it shows more than 15 amps after it starts the motor needs to be replaced.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the air compressor to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

Q:

Part #83 the oil plug popped out how do I put it back and make it stay? 919195411 Craftsman Air compressor

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you. I can understand any frustration you may have experienced with regards to your unit. Let’s see what we can do for you.

I’m looking at the information and I’m showing that the number 83 on the diagram is the oil fill plug. This is meant to just pop out, if it’s not staying at all you will need to order a new one. This plug should close up and need to be pried out with a flat head screw driver.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. Again, thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.

Hi AnneJ! Are you still there? This is an old post but I hope so. Thank you for the link to the compressor switch Z-D23378. I was so happy to see this because I can't find it anywhere and this company still offers it for sale. I took mine apart quite awhile ago because it was leaking out the side port. Unfortunately, I forgot how the wires were connected. So, before I buy the new one for $100, I want to know if you have the wiring connections, also. I can't buy it if I can't connect it properly. I can tell you the wire colors if you need them. Thank you very much for your help. Eddie
