Hi Steve, sorry we have not got to you sooner. This conversation is over 3 years old so it didn't show up in our list of questions that needed to be answered.

Based on the information you have provided it sounds like you have a blown fuse. First check the fuse box for a blown fuse and replace. Reset Circuit breaker, do not use a fuse with a higher rater than what is specified for your particular unit.  Second, make sure the fuse is a time delay fuse. Third, also check for low voltage conditions or a proper extension cord if one is being used.

I hope this helps in fixing your air compressor.

If you have further questions please let me know.

I have exactly the same compressor and motor. I don't have a blown fuse. the compressor starts and runs about 6 seconds then trips the breaker. I can repeat the problem at my house and my neighbor's house. Any Help is appreciated.

Replaced with GE Genteq Capacitor Round 40 uf 370 Volt VAC Z97F9614 97F9614 (found on eBay for $15.85 The unit runs well now and doesn't blow the breaker. Q:

how to get the to screws out of the front cover 919165220 Craftsman Air compressor

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

Based upon the visual of the screws on Sears Parts, it looks like they are going to be a Torx head. More than likely a T25.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
