Q:

tube blowing off compressor check valve?

A:

When it comes to troubleshooting your Compressor owners manuals are the best to have. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, I found your owners manual in the Manage My Life website. I have attached the link below. Have a nice day!

Thank you for your question on the air compressor air line blowing off the check valve.

These should have compression fittings that hold both the outlet tube and the relief tube to the check valve.

All you may have to do is pick up some new compression fitting locally and if you can re-cut the tubing with out it being to short, and you may be able to repair it with out having to order parts.

Some of the original compression sleeves where rubber but you can replace them with brass compression fittings.

Unless the check valve is cracked I do not think you will need to replace it.

Please let me know what you find out about the fittings and we can continue to troubleshoot with that information if needed.

I have the same issue. I've tried replacing the plastic tube but can't find one that will withstand the heat of the check-valve connection which is simply a slip connector. The other end is a compression fitting which holds well. This part is not shown as an available part. Is there a way to convert the check valve end to a compression fitting (which appears to be perhaps an 1/8") and go with copper which is malleable and impervious to the heat build up? This unit has been a paper weight for a 2 years thus far until I can come up with a remedy. Thank you in advance for you assistance. Don Adam, Columbus, OH

I also am having this problem. It is the motor on a Craftsman air compressor 919.165220. 5HP 22Gal. The motor is a GE #5KCR49TN2235X. The capacitors on mine seem to be fine and the motor starts to spin but then trips the breaker?? I'm at a loss...

Hi Steve, sorry we have not got to you sooner. This conversation is over 3 years old so it didn't show up in our list of questions that needed to be answered.

Based on the information you have provided it sounds like you have a blown fuse. First check the fuse box for a blown fuse and replace. Reset Circuit breaker, do not use a fuse with a higher rater than what is specified for your particular unit.  Second, make sure the fuse is a time delay fuse. Third, also check for low voltage conditions or a proper extension cord if one is being used.

I hope this helps in fixing your air compressor.

If you have further questions please let me know.

Q:

Craftsmans aircompressor wiring 919.165200

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your air compressor. Upon researching model 919.165200; not all units are convertible. If the unit is convertible there would be a wiring diagram under the motor cover or the pressure switch.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.
