Question and Answers

Q:

What is the head bolt torge for this compressor 919153131 Craftsman Compressor

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

The head bolts should be torqued to 8 ft. /lbs. in a crisscross pattern. I would recommend getting them snug or slight more on the first go over, and then torque them down in the next sequence.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

DAC-140 new valve not working 919153531 Craftsman Air compressor

A:

Check the seals. Your details seem to indicate that air is leaking past the seals for that valve.

Thanks Lyle but ..... the DAC140 valve was an add on by Craftsman early on. The sheet that referred to it doesn't show any seals and there weren't any when I removed the valve. Instead, there is a heavy "rubberized" sealant coating on the exterior of the threads on the valve. I have screwed it in as tight as it will go. The only air leaking out is coming right out of the center of the valve (there appears to be a spring loaded valve mechanism internal to the DAC-140) and none around the 140 unit itself. If there are seals in there, I don't have access to anything that would tell me the part number. The exploded view diagram shows the DAC-140 part but no seals. Can you look further at the problem please. Many thanks.

A:

You could have a failed check valve or internal problems with the air pump. I assume that the pump isn't filling the tank with any air since the air is leaking out of the DAC140 valve. I recommend that you have a service technician examine the compressor.
