Q:

Fuel a Filter 316350840 Craftsman Chainsaw

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
Based upon the chainsaw model of 316350840, I am seeing that the fuel filter part number is MC-9182-310001. You must have ordered a filter from another model number. On the diagram for parts on this model, the filter is number 67.
Outside of an internally clogged fuel filter preventing fuel from entering the carburetor, you could also have a carburetor issue itself. The jet could be clogged with varnish or one of the air passageways could be clogged, preventing the fuel from flowing properly.
Let us know if we can be of any further assistance and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Q:

Cannot locate oil filter part for Craftsman chainsaw model 316.350840 316.350840

A:

Hi !

Thanks for posting.

Our 2-cycle engines do contain an oil filter just a gas and air filter thus why you were having difficulties finding it. There is your bar and chain oil which is not filtered before it goes through the auto oiler.

Please let us know if you need anything else.

Thanks for choosing Managemylife.com

Hello Thanks for the response to my inquiry. The operators manual (on page 19) for this unit provides instructions for changing the oil filter (as part of maintaining the bar and chain oiler) and page 15 indicates that this filter should be changed after every 10 hours of operation. Based upon your previous response, please provide confirmation that I should disregard the operators manual instructions (as it relates to maintaining this filter) and that the oil filter related maintenance documentation in this manual is in error. Many thanks.

There were a couple of engines that MTD made for Craftsman ... Seems that the oil filter is the same as the fuel filter part number MC-9182-310001. You should be able to hook out the filter out of the oil resevoir and see that it is the same. Let us know. Thank you for choosing managemylife.com
