Q:

housing 917388511 Craftsman Gas, walk behind lawnmower

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
I am sorry to hear about the issue with the front right wheel, I know how frustrating it is to have issues like that occur.
If the cutting deck broke where the axle bolts to, maybe from rust, then a new deck housing would be called for. The part number is 443253. However, if the axle broke that holds and supports the wheel, a new axle would be needed, and that is part number 186578X004.
For convenience, I have included two blue links below that you may click on to be directed to the PartsDirect page to view and purchase either part.

Q:

Can I use car oil with a Craftsman lawn mower?

A:

cheap oil is just that CHEAP, go to walmart or sears and get a jug of 30w briggs small engine oil. it is cheaper than a new engine for your mower.

A:

Thank you for your question. SAE oil which stands for Society Automotive Engineers. On page 9 it gives you all the specifications you will need for your mower, Just click here for your manual. SAE is car oil and it is non-detergent. If you read the label they basically all have the same. It is the thickness like the 5w that yours use that will be different.

I hope this helps.

A:

If you look on the right side of the engine at the front corner you will see a square cover with a screw at the top. Remove the screw and the cover will come off. Under the cover is the air filter for the engine. Pay attention to how the filter is seated there as you do not want to put it in backwards.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!
