Lawn mower runs rich for a moment then slows down then runs full speed again It keeps doing this 917388190 Craftsman Mower

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you.  I can understand any frustration you may have experienced with regards to your unit. Let’s see what we can do for you.

I’m showing that even thou you changed the spark plug it could have foaled out. Did you buy the spark plug thru us? If you bought it at an auto store, then the gap on it could be wrong. I’m also showing that the armature magneto could be going out too. That’s the part have make the spark and travels down the wire to the spark plug. If the spark plug is ok, then I would try that armature next.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. Q:

briggs & stratton lawn mower #917.388190 917.388190

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
You failed to mention what type of overhaul kit you are looking for. Are you referring to the piston and connecting rod, or are you referring to the carburetor? There are quite a few assemblies or kits offered for this Briggs.
Based upon model 917.388190, I see the engine model as 10T802-1059-B1. Based upon that engine model in SearsParts, I pulled up the diagrams and have linked them below so that you may view the schematics and parts lists to find the right components.

Hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

lawnmower runs terribly, barely continues running when cutting the lawn. Very irratic

A:

This sounds like a problem with the carburetor. I have attached a link below with a good detail of how to clean this carburetor up. While you have the carburetor off of the tank, make sure to clean the tank out thoroughly as well.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!
