Q:

How can I know the number of model of my lawn mower?

A:

The model number of your lawnmower is on a tag usually somewhere on the mower deck if it is a walk behind mower.

If the lawnmower is a rider, the model number is probably under the seat.

On the email I got, I was asked for the mower part number: it is 917271910. As I mentioned before, it is a Sears Craftsman LT1000, 20hpVTwin Briggs & Stratton engine. I was able to force the cable (lever) to the up (drop cutting blades) position, but the blades still do not rotate. There is switch below the lever that appears to affect engine start. I wish I had a wiring schematic of that circuit. Do you think you can help? I would really appreciate it. thanks

Q:

Throttle linkage

A:

Making sure of parts and specs before replacement or repair is always a good idea. While you wait for the expert you can check the two links below if you like. The first link is to the schematics at Sears Parts Direct which can provide an exploded view. The second link is to the owner's manual for the diagrams and parts list. Hope this information helps.

I am sending you some images of throttle linkages of engines. Compare the images to the throttle linkage on your engine and select the closest one.

You might have to move the link to different holes in the governor arm and throttle plate to get the engine running properly.

We don't have specific linkages for each engine. The links are moved at the factory and vary on each engine.

Q:

How do I replace the starter rope on my pusher mower model 917.387070?

A:

I am not certain from your question exact which pin you are referring to or what point in the disassembly you are at, but the images below from your Owner's Manual and the Sears PartsDirect site should help you see how the recoil mechanism comes off and apart. The recoil will be under the model number of the engine itself on the PartsDirect site.

Note that there are two different recoil assemblies your model might use, but reviewing the exploded-view of each should help clarify which you have and how it will come apart. I also included some links below with additional information. Some of it deals with different models so some details might vary but the basics will be the same so it still may help.

If it is not clear, please feel free to submit another question here with a little more detail about what you are looking for and we will do our best to help further.
