To remove the blade adapter the gas should be drained or ran out of the tank so the lawnmower can be placed on the side. Lay the mower so the carburetor and air cleaner are up.

Block the blade with a piece of wood and remove the blade bolt and blade. The blade adapter should pull off the engine shaft unless it is rusted to the engine shaft.

Try spraying rust buster between the engine shaft and the blade adapter and tapping the blade adapter with a hammer to help the rust buster penetrate. Tap on the back side of the blade adapter to tap it off the engine shaft.

If this procedure doesn�t work, put the blade bolt back into the engine shaft and tighten it until the head is about � inch from the blade adapter. Use a gear puller to pull the blade adapter off the shaft.
