Question and Answers

craftsman mower starter pull question

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with removing the starter. If the engine still has the original starter assembly, it is riveted to the blower housing. To remove the original starter you need to remove the starter and blower housing together. Then place the assembly on a bench and use a drill to drill out the rivets. Once you drill out the rivets, the starter can be removed. The new starter will have new screws and nuts to secure the new starter to the housing. If the only problem was the pull rope broke you can replace just the rope. I found a video that shows how to replace the rope. Click here to watch the video.
