I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your lawn mower. If the left wheel is driving, the transmission is fine. I suspect the problem is a dirty pinion assembly or sheared gear in the wheel. First, check the wheel. To do that you have to remove the wheel. It is secured to the axle with one nut. Once the nut is removed, slide the wheel off the axle. Then look at the teeth inside of the wheel. If they are worn off, the wheel has to be replaced. If the wheel looks ok, I recommend cleaning the pinion assembly. First, remove the c-clip securing the pinion. Then take the pinion apart and clean the parts with brake cleaner. After the parts are clean, use the image below to aid in reassembling the pinion. Once it is reassembled check the operation. If it still gives you problems, I recommend replacing the pinion assembly. If you would like to order the parts, just click on this link: Sears Parts Direct .
