Q:

Lawnmower won't start. 917376655 Craftsman Lawn mower

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. The Owner's Manual states " Fuel valve lever (if equipped" and your model does not have a fuel valve shut off lever.

To start the mower, press the primer button 8-10 times, pull the control bar up against the handle and hold it there and then pull the starter rope. You may have to pull the rope several times before it will start. If the engine does not start, then you will need to disconnect the spark plug wire and remove the spark plug and see if the end of the spark plug is wet with fuel. If it is not wet with fuel, the carburetor will likely need to be removed and cleaned. If the spark plug is wet with fuel, the spark plug is not likely getting any fire from the coil assembly or the coil is grounded. If the control bar is not being squeezed back enough, it will ground the coil and the spark plug will not getting any spark. Make sure to pull the control bar up against the handle when pulling on the rope. If it will not start, check for fuel to the cylinder and spark at the spark plug.

I hope this helpful. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician fix this problem, you can take the mower into your nearest Sears Repair Center or Sears Store for repair. You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME.
