The governor spring is part number 699056, and the air vane spring is part number 790849. There is also a brake spring nearby and is part number 692135.

Q:

Drive Wheels won't disengage 917376450 Craftsman Mower

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly assist you in locating the instructions to install a new drive cable on your mower. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found information to assist you.

First, check the drive cable. If the cable is not releasing, the wheels will stay engaged. If the cable is fine, check the pinion pawls. If there is a burr, it could cause it not to release. You can also lube them with dry graphite. There is a left and right side. If you have had them off at the same time make, sure you have not mixed them up.

If the mower continues driving when the drive control bail is released, something is not releasing in the clutching mechanism. Remove the belt cover and lubricate the idler pulley mechanism. Visually inspect the belt and idler arm mechanism for wear or damage.

I have attached intructions to assist you in replacing the drive control cable if it is worn.

Let me know if this helps.
