Q:

I have a 6.75 horsepower brigs and stratton lawn mower I need help with. 917.376051

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the lawnmower.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Craftsman lawnmower model number 917.376051.   Looking at your Briggs and Stratton engine model number 125K02-0542-E1.

When is the last time  you tuned it up with a new air filter and spark plug?

Idling problem could be a carburetor issue, could be fuel lines, air filter.

I have a rebuild kit for the carburetor, but I would just buy the new carburetor because it isn't that expensive as most, and only 30 dollars more than a rebuild kit.

Carburetor for model 125K02-0542-E1

Carburetor Kit for model 125K02-0542-E1

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the mower. Usually when we encounter this problem cleaning the carburetor cures the problem. Other things that cause this problem are a defective gasket between the carburetor and air filter housing or defective primer bulb. I recommend removing the air filter first. Then look into the throat of the carburetor while pushing the primmer. When you push the primer, you should see gas squirt into the carburetor. If you do not see the gas enter the throat of the carburetor, I recommend replacing the primer and gasket. This will only cure the problem it the carburetor is clean. The most important thing is if the main jet is cleaned. I have found a video that shows how to clean the carburetor. Click here to watch the video.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance on the mower.

Thank you for using Manage my life.
