A:

I've seen this from time to time, but it's not something I would consider to be even remotely common. Practically every walk-behind mower on the market mounts the engine to the deck the same way, so I would not think of it as a problem with the design.

You can tighten the engine mount bolts from the underside of the mower deck to get the engine back solid on the deck again. Do make sure to check the deck around the bolt hole to make sure it is not cracked. If the deck is cracked then it will have to be replaced or welded up (use a local welding shop).

If everything looks okay with the deck and you get the engine mounted securely again, make sure to notice any odd vibration when you run the machine. If something was inadvertently hit with the mower, that could have caused this problem and also bent the crank on the engine. If the crank is bent, the engine is pretty much done as this cannot readily be repaired.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!

Q:

Is the Husqvarna mower 917.374471 transmission shaft ajustable? Replacement has shorter shaft.

A:

Looking at the parts illustrations on the Sears PartsDirect site or as shown in your Owner's Manual you can see that one-peice shafts are used in the transmission so they would not be adjustable.

See the image below for more details. The transmission is shown as item 13 and also shown in the outset on the side of the image where you can see the internals and more detail on the shafts used.

If your replacement appears different then the original then you may have recieved the incorrect part in error and you may need to contact the Store you purchased it from or the PartsDirect site to confirm what is happening or get the correct part.
