Primer bulb 917373981 Craftsman Lawn mower

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears
I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the lawnmower engine parts.
Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Craftsman Lawnmower model number  917373981.  Looking at the model number,  I see you have an original engie of a Techumseh with a model 143.945504.

Look on the picture below and shows a good picture.   Key number 35 is the primber bulb.  You get all 3 pieces which is the retaining ring, the primer bulb, and a little fitler in there.

Just need to remove the retaining ring by pulling up the tips.  Pull the ring off and out.   Looks simple by the picture.

Keep the engine running good don't forget the tune up.   Our tune up kit has a pregapped spark plug, air filter, oil, and fuel stabilizer to protect the carburetor and the lines.

Part number for tune up kit on this engine is 143.945504

Thank you for your understanding in this matter and I hope we can help you with your future questions and repairs.  Thank you for choosing Sears and using our

I have an older eager 1 lawnmower model # 917.373981 and I am trying to connect the carburetor linkage correctly. Craftsman Lawn mower

Thanks for the inquiry and for using
Sorry to hear of the issue you are having with the carb linkage, I know how frustrating that can be to have occur.
Based upon the Craftsman model of 917.373981, I see you are using a Tecumseh engine with model of 143.945504. I have attached a service manual for this engine that you can refer to for the diagram and instructions for the linkage connection. It starts on page 26.

Hope this helps and thanks for using

Why won't the wheel on the front of my Craftsman lawnmower model 917.373981 stay where I put it?

The problem is in the wheel adjuster. If it were for a rear wheel you could probably replace just replace the spring arm. Since it is for the front of the lawnmower you will need a complete wheel adjuster assembly.

The spring tension that causes the adjuster to stay in the notch you put it in, is caused by the arm that you move to adjust the wheel height. This arm is made of spring steel and the memory in it causes it to press into the notch and stay there. The bolt that goes through the spring arm must be tight. It is a shoulder bolt and that shoulder leaves enough room for you to move it after the bolt is tightened. It has a lock-nut on the back of the wheel adjuster bracket that holds everything tight. Look in the owners manual at the breakdown for the rear adjusters. The front adjusters are very similar but the parts don't interchange.

Check to make sure all the bolts are tight, and if they are, you need to replace the complete assembly.

I just purchased a brand new lawnmower (model 247.37037) and am experiencing this right out of the box. The front wheel height adjustment assembly will not lock into place and always returns to the lowest height setting. It appears the locking mechanism is not lined up properly, and because it is at an angle, the adjuster will not stay in the notch. This is poor engineering. Please advise.
