Q:

why do you sell replacement parts that do not interchange with original parts? 917.297011

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the difference in design on the transmission. I know how frustrating that is.

I do see that the sheave pulley has also been updated with the 532 prefix. It could be that the pulley (part 532151223) will also need to be updated to work with the updated transmission. In cases where the manufacturer discontinues parts, sometimes the subs will be slightly different and/or other related components will need to be updated to work.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

the lever of the choke broke outside and inside 917-297011

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you've had with the choke. I know how frustrating that is.

You can view your engine parts on Sears Parts by inputting the model of the engine. I show it as 126302-3775-B1. The choke control is part number 790630, and the choke shaft is 790624. You can also purchase a new carburetor that would have it all assembled, which is 791077.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Yes it did, if the tank is clean and new fuel in it your ok there but the carb will need to be removed and cleaned very thoroughly sometimes even a dip in carb cleaner overnight will not clean it enough and the carb needs replaced. sometimes I price the carb by using the engine model # and if the cost is not that bad 30-40 bucs I just throw it away and put a new one on because of the hassle of cleaning taking it on and off just to have to replace it anyway. a gallon of carb dip at most auto parts stores is around 20 bucs so as you can see the cost sometimes just isn't worth the hassle.

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry you are having problems with your Craftsman tiller model 917297011.   If the engine will start when you pour fuel into the carburetor the engine likely has a dirty carburetor. When this happens, the engine cannot get its fuel from the carburetor. To cure this problem you need to clean or replace the carburetor. Usually the only thing needed is to clean the float bowl and the main jet. I found a video that shows how to clean the carburetor on a similar engine. The engine looks different but the steps are going to be the same. Click here to watch the video. I also recommend draining all the fuel out of the tank. Then refill it with fresh fuel.  Be sure to do this type of repair in a well ventilated area and use caution when working around fuel.      If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a  Sears technician.  Here is a link for the website:  Sears Home Services .  I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.  Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark T.
