Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you. I can understand any frustration you may have experienced with regards to your unit. Let’s see what we can do for you.

The reason why you would lose compression in your cylinder would be the piston rings, or cylinder wall. Also you could be losing compression in come kind of seal or gasket.  I would plan on replacing the rings on the piston. While doing that make sure that the cylinder walls are smooth and scratch free.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. Again, thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.

Q:

Shaft that part #11011x goes on to 917293401 Craftsman Rear tine tiller

A:

It's hard to tell bythe parts image but I'm thinking the shaft needed is the shift arm. Look at the transmission page and see if the shift arm key#13 on the transmission page 25 part number #142145 is what your looking for. We have very limited information and resources but if you could check and see, this may be the shift arm you need.

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your tiller. Upon researching model 917.293401; rewinding the spring on the starter is a job for a repair center since it requires experience and special tools. Replacing the starter assembly is a lot easier it’s, the starter is normally riveted.  I have posted a link of the starter to view the link click here.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.

ok - i am a bit confused here: "Replacing the starter assembly is a lot easier it??s, the starter is normally riveted." yes, it appears as if the housing itself is riveted, the same housing that appears in your item Starter Part #: 590788 ... unless this slips under the housing from behind and sits beneath the riveted outer housing? So I pull the gastank off and come down from above and mount this behind the riveted outer panel? thanks for your help

is the outer housing on your part 590788 already mounted, and are those holes for rivets,ie, do I need to drill the rivets out to get the starter assembly out?
