Question and Answers

Q:

Garden tiller housing on starter

A:

This is the time to get the garden ready for planting and to help keep the soil aerated and weed free. The starter ropes on outdoor equipment can slow the job down when they break or do not operate properly. To help you find some information that may help while you wait for the expert to review your model I located and attached two similar expert posts. The second also has a video that may guide you through this repair.

A:

The starter may be held onto the engine shroud with rivets or with screws. If it's held on with screws, unscrew them and pull the starter off to wind up your new cord. If the starter is held on with rivets then you will need to remove the engine shroud. There are screws (3/8 wrench/socket) on the top and on each side of the shroud down low that holds the shroud in place. Remove those 4 screws and the whole shroud will come off and then you can wind in your new cord.
