lawn tractor #917.288271 part # 405138 (linkage) how to attach threaded side . pic shows nut and washer but whats on back side of washer. where do i connect ?

You can watch THIS VIDEO to get a good idea of what it takes to open up the transmission. He is locking the transmission (making it positive traction), you DO NOT want to do that. I'm just referring you to this video to get a good idea about taking the transmission apart.
