The manual lists a part number under tire for the tube. If it is tubeless why would it tell me a part number for a tube? Will the actual tire say tube or tubeless?

Refer to the Parts Direct Link below - You will notice that there is also a Valve stem PART NUMBER: 65139 # 2 on diagram - you don't need a valve Stem when you use a tube because there is already a valve stem on the inner tube.

Okay, thank you very much for this information. But what about ordering the square key that I would use to take off the rear tires if I ever need to have them replaced? I was never given it when Sear's delivered the lawn mower.

Concerning the "square key".It is already installed on the rear axle. You need to read Page 24 of your Owners Manual and refer to the diagram shown on the lower left corner of the page - A second source concerning the item..... It is #77 on the Ground Drive Diagram @ Parts Direct -http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Craftsman-Parts/Riding-mower-tractor-Parts/Model-917288071/0247/1509200/P0803076/00003

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com. This model of tractor can accommodate either tubed or tubeless tires, depending on your preference. In order to verify the set-up, you will want to remove the rim and take the tire off the rim. If you have a tubed tire, then you can just replace the tube, but if it's tubeless, you will want to install a plug in the hole or convert it to a tubed set-up.

In regards to the square key, it sits on the differential shaft that the tire sits on. The key is recessed between the shaft and the tire so that when the shaft is spinning, it will also spin the tire. Without the key in place, your tire would just spin freely. The only thing you will need to do to take off the tire is remove the 'c' clip and hardware pieces. If the tire doesn't slide right off, you may need to take a rubber mallot and gently tap around the inside going out to break it from the key. Hopefully this will help.

If you have any further questions or inquiries, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your lawn tractor. It sounds like there maybe a short or defected part that is draining the power from the battery. This, however could be any number of parts within the system. There is not easy fix for this, so in order to find out which part it is, you will need to test everything in the electrical system. This is a very long process, so I would recommend that you have a technician do this. If you would like to view a diagram of the electric system, just click on this link and enter your model number: Sears Parts Direct . If you would like to schedule service, just click here: Sears Home Services . If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
