Q:

how do you reset change oil light on a craftsmen fs5500 model# 917276884

A:

Many Craftsman tractors have this feature to be sure the engine gets the fresh oil it needs for a long life. The warning is designed to automatically turn on after the Hour Meter reaches a predetermined number of hours. The light should also turn off automatically after another 1 to 2 hours of use. If the warning does not turn off after 2 hours use there may be a problem with your Hour Meter. http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/questions?q=reset+change+oil+light -Search results for "reset change oil light" - @ -

Hi Josh, I will be happy to assist you. It sounds like the star pattern on the mandrel shaft is sheared off. When this happens the blade will just spin on the shaft. To remove the bolt you will need to hold the mandrel pulley. You can try to hold the shaft with gloved hands while someone else tries to loosen the bolt. If you cannot hold the pulley, you can use a strap wrench on the pulley instead. Once you have the bolt off inspect the end of the mandrel shaft. If the star pattern is worn off, you will need to replace the shaft. I recommend checking the other parts of the mandrel before ordering the parts. The reason is if needs other parts I recommend ordering the whole mandrel assembly. The part number for the complete mandrel is 187292. The parts can be ordered from our parts website: Sears Parts Direct .

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life.
