Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the tractor. I suspect the problem with the tractor is a broken anti rotation bracket. The anti rotation bracket is mounted to the side of the frame and the pin on the bracket fits into the clutch to keep it from turning. The image below shows the bracket. The part number for the bracket is 190736 and can be ordered from our parts website: Sears Parts Direct .

Please let me know if you need further assistance. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Yes, use the hole in the clutch that will position the wires close to the hole in the frame. Just make sure you tie the wires back so they go not get caught on anything. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

It is better to torque the bolt. The bolt should be torqued to 50-55 foot pounds. The image below is where I found the information. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

The new clutch should be ready to go. It should be hard to turn by hand the reason is the clutch has a brake that is applied when the switch is disengaged. There are a few things to check. First, make sure there is nothing rubbing on the clutch. If it looks ok, you can check the gap in the inspections ports. That is if your clutch has them. The image I have posted in a previous response has the instructions for adjusting the gap. If the gap is fine, you have received a defective clutch. If you purchased the clutch from Sears, call the number on the packing slip for an exchange. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for your question on the Kohler shop manual for the engine.

I am sorry but all I can find for a manuals is the parts breakdown for the engine.

I have not found a shop manual for this Kohler engine.

Engine parts for Kohler model CV730-0043 .

You may want to see if you can find a local Kohler engine warranty dealer to see if he has or will sell you a shop manual for your engine.

Thank you for the update. I am not sure that it is the engine at all. From your description of the problem I think you have a bad operator presence seat switch. Lift the seat on the tractor and disconnect and reconnect the seat switch connector and then try to engage the PTO. It also could be an bad ignition switch that is internally shutting the tractor off when you engage the PTO. Please let me know what you found out and we can continue to troubleshoot based on that information. Sam A.

Thank you for the update on the tractor dieing when the pto is engaged. I see that I forgot to include the pto switch in my diagnosis. I will give you all three parts that are the possible cause for this problem. If you can let out the clutch for moving the tractor then it may not be the seat switch. It could be the ignition switch or the pto switch. I have also included the wiring diagram below. You will be able to track the circuit of the switches through the ignition and pto switch and the seat switch. You will need a volt/ohm meter set to the ohms scale to be able to check these circuits and switches for continuity. I would check the pto switch first to may sure it contacts are all making through the switch. Pull the connector off the switch and put it back on again and try it. It that does not work, then pull the wire plug off the pto switch again and check the switch circuit with the switch in the on and off positions so you can trace the internal contacts on the switch. Do the same for the ignition and seat (operators presence) switch. Please let me know what you find out. Sam A.
