Q:

mower does not charge good battery 917275760 Craftsman Lawn tractor

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your lawn mower. Upon researching model 917275760; The fastest way to diagnose the problem is check the voltage at the engine with it running. After you have the battery charged, find the red wire coming from out of the engine. Then turn the meter to check DC volts. Next place the meter leads on the wire from the engine and the other just touch to the engine ground. Once you have the leads in the correct position have a helper start the engine and run it full speed. You should have a reading over 12.5 volts. If you do not have the reading, the stator has failed. If you have a reading over 12.5, I suspect there is a wire disconnected somewhere. You will need to follow the red wire back to find where it is disconnected.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.

Q:

accesory attaching 917275760 Craftsman Lawn tractor

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about attaching a bagger accessory to your Craftsman lawn tractor model 917275760. I will be happy to help you with this.

The attachment information is not in the owner’s manual of the tractor, but instead in the owner’s manual for the bagger. This is because there are multiple accessories that can be used with the tractor, but they do not all attach the same. To find the manual and the parts list for the bagger, we will need its model number. It is usually on a label on the frame that attaches it to the back of the tractor. Please resubmit your question with the model number of the bagger and the tractor and we will be happy to research this further. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Q:

Steering Wheel hard to turn 917275760 Craftsman Lawn tractor

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you're having with the hard to turn steering. I know how frustrating that is.

You don't specifically mention where you've greased the tractor. I presume the four zerks on the lubrication chart. There are two on the front spindles and two on the front wheels for the bearings. If you haven't greased the sector gear and steering shaft where they mate, I would strongly recommend to do so, that would more than likely be where the issue is. You can use your fingers or a paint brush and light coate the teeth on the sector gear and the shaft gear. Then work the steering from side to side so that the shaft covers the sector gear teeth.

If that doesn't help, there may be some worn parts in the spindle or steering assembly, which could include the steering shaft, spindles, or sector.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

A:

I greased every place I could find (I service the tractor each year). I lifted the tractor so I could get under and look at the steering, but did not see any grease points there. None shows in the manual either. If it helps, I can grease the gears where they meet?
