Q:

Lawn mower quits 917275371 Craftsman Tractor

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you're having with the tractor shutting off intermittently. I know how frustrating that is.

There are a few common occurrences for this type of issue to happen. It could be a non-venting fuel cap, a dirty carburetor, or it could be an issue with spark.

Next time the tractor bogs down or dies, unthread the fuel cap and see if it smoothes out or starts back up. If so, a fuel cap replacement will be needed. The fuel caps need to vent, otherwise negative pressure builds in the tank and restricts fuel flow. After time, the pressure releases and it can be restarted.

The other factor would be with spark. Next time it dies, take out the spark plug, reattach it to the boot, and ground it to the metal cylinder. Have someone sit on the seat and turn the key on while you check for spark. If you do not have spark, the spark module may need to be serviced or replaced.

Another factor would be debris in the carburetor. Debris gets sucked into the jet which kills the engine, and once it dies the debris falls out of the jet which allows the engine to be restarted.

I hope these suggestions help, and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

Interlock switch 917275371 Craftsman Tractor

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

It very well could be a ground. I would recommend referring the wiring diagram on page 31 of the owner's manual. I am not sure which interlock switch you're referring to or the color of the wire. However, the wiring diagram will show the various switches and color codes of the wires so you know what it is. If it is a ground, look in the general viscinity of the reach of the wire for a connection point.

On a side point, if that doesn't solve the issue, check the fuse and make sure the blades are not engaged.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
