Q:

no spark 917273820 Craftsman Tractor

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you're having with spark on the tractor. I know how frustrating that is.

I would make sure the coil is properly gapped. The gap should be set between .010-.014”. I would also check the magnets to make sure they are intact and not rusted. If that checks out, you will need to check the coil itself.

Disconnect the ground wire from the ignition module. Turn the ignition key to the start position. If you get spark when the engine turns over you have a good coil, your problem is elsewhere. It could be a safety switch issue that is causing the lack of spark. You will need to check them for continuity to see if that’s where the issue is.

Safety Switch Testing

If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-469-4663, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

917273820 TRACTOR DECK 917273820 Craftsman Tractor

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you're having engaging the blades. I know how frustrating that is.

If there is nothing binding on the idler arm, I would suspect that the clutch cable spring has worn and no longer has the tension to pull the arm completely. I suspect a replacement clutch cable should solve the issue for you.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
