Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with removing the starter mounting bolt on your tractor. I know removing the bolt on this model can be difficult to remove. The easiest way to remove the bolt is with a Torx bit. I have posted an image below showing what the bit looks like. The bolt should have an internal star pattern the Torx bit will fit. If you do not have a torx bit, I recommend taking the one bolt you have removed to your local Sears store. This will ensure you get the correct bit. Once you have the bit you should not have any problem removing the bolt.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance on removing the starter.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Q:

I have a craftsman lawn tractor model number 917.273450. My manual does not show how the draglink attaches to the l.h. steering assembly.

A:

The little ball should be attached to the draglink, it's part of the draglink. If you can see the little ball that generally means it is no longer in the bored out section of the draglink. It's broke. You'll need to replace the draglink.

When you get your new draglink it will have that little ball with the threaded section on both ends of it. The draglink part number is 175121 and you can order it HERE .
