Question and Answers

Q:

right-side blade doesn't cut very good 917273381 Craftsman Tractor

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you. I can understand any frustration you may have experienced with regards to your unit. Let’s see what we can do for you.

There could be an issue with one of the pulleys on the deck. You said you didn’t think it was tight enough, maybe the cable that engages it is going out. There could be a lot of issue that this could be from. If you can’t figure it out I would recommend a tech to come out and take a look at it.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. Again, thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.

Sorry, when I first logged in to get the answer, the screen said "I couldn't find an answer to your question", and that is what my "expert" reply references.....There is no apparent issues with the pulleys on the deck, but the engage cable is a good thought. I didn't know if maybe there was something else I could look at like that, or if there was a way the mower pulls the belt tight (I had seen reference to something like that somewhere, but can't remember the details). I also wonder if there was a slight difference between the original belt from sears (#144959) versus the substitution/compatible generic belt (#532144959)that also fits a Husqvarna, because it is that substitution belt that I installed new earlier this summer to try and fix the issue.

Q:

Shut down when running 917273381 Craftsman Tractor

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. I regret to hear that you are having issues with your mower and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 917273381  and you'll need to check the seat switch and the plug to the seat switch. In a lot of cases, you can unplug the seat switch and then plug it back in and everything will be fine. If that doesn't work I would say to replace the seat switch (or at least check it for continuity). If you have further questions please resubmit your question for further information.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

Q:

Hydr-pump 917273381 Craftsman Tractor

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
The hydro pump is located on the back-right side of the transaxle based upon my information for Peerless 2000-006A. On the SearsParts site, it is illustrated as key number 210 on the diagram. The transaxle fan and pulley sits on top of the pump.
In order to gain access to the pump, the transaxle will need to be pulled from the tractor. This can be a complex service and Sears would recommend to have a technician assist with the service.
I was able to find a Peerless transaxle service manual, but it does cover many different models of Peerless. I have provided the link below for the service manual as well as a link to the PartsDirect page to view the pump.

If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-349-5071, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.
Hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
