Q:

Will snowblower 842-24071 fit my LT2000 917.272431? Would snowblower 24579 fit? 917272431 Craftsman Lawn tractor

A:

Thank you for your question.

I will be happy to assist you. I looked up the model numbers you submitted. I am sorry the snow blower will not fit your tractor. The snow blower is for a tractor built in the 80's. If you are looking for a used snow blower, I recommend finding models that have a model number starting with 486. This units are more likely to fit and you can still get parts for them. If you find a model, please let me know the model number. I will be happy to see if it will fit.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

The part comes with the hardware to hold it to the deck. It is important that when you are mulching, you use the right blades for the job. I have included the link for the mulching blades also.

While you are getting parts for the mower, I recommend also getting the tune up kit for the engine. These are parts that need to be replaced at least once every mowing season.

Q:

I have an engine that revs uncontrollably and does not respond to the throttle control. Has anyone had this happen and if so, what was the problem.

A:

There is a governor that controls you engine speed. You can see it comes out of the side of your engine right in back of you linkage. You can trace the linkage back to the arm that is hooked to a shaft going into the engine. Make sure the linkage hasn't come off of either the carb or the governor arm. You should be able to move the governor arm and see the linkage on the carb move. With a little luck the linkage will be your problem. If not take the governor arm loose from the shaft and see how much the shaft turns, it should only move about 15 to 20 degrees. If it moves more than that you have broken the governor inside the engine and will require a tear down.

Check the throttle control cable to make sure that it is still connected properly. Page 28 of your owner's manual describes how to adjust the throttle cable. Here is a link for your owner's manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual .

If the throttle cable is connected and adjusted properly then you likely have a problem with the governor linkage. Mike described this problem in the previous response. If you are able to find and correct a problem with the governor linkage then you may be able to fix this problem on your tractor. If the governor linkage is okay then I recommend that you have a service technician diagnose and repair this problem. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .
