I would STRONGLY recommend that you DO NOT BYPASS the clutch and blade engagement switches as theses are safety devices designed to protect you and others from any possible injuries.

Based on the model number you provided I was able to locate the wiring diagram/schematic for your tractor. It is on page 31 of your Owner's Manual . With the tractor running at full throttle and the stator disconnected you should be getting approximately 13.9 VDC at3 amps DC on the red wire. That will tell you if the stator is working. If you are getting that then your short is somewhere else possibly in the pto switch.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I hope this helps.

If I can be of further assistance please feel free to submit any questions you have along with the specifics.

I took your advice and re hooked up the clutch safety and blade safety but when I try to turn on the blades the motor wants to stall I can bypass the blade safety switch and it works great is this because the alternator is disconnected? also there are 2 wires coming out of the alt. one black and one green no red wire thanks
