Thank you for your question.

Due to the age of the tractor and snow blower, I honestly cannot tell you if the two are compatible. The reason is our attachments books do not go back that far. If you could test, fit the snow blower before you purchase it I recommend doing that. If you did not know, the parts for the snow blower are no longer available. I am sorry I could not be of better assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

This really sounds like an internal issue with the carburetor like one of the passageways or jet is still clogged, which is why you need to keep it choked and the engine is surging. I would remove the carburetor and perform a thorough cleaning of all the ports. It could be that something unlodged when you performed the rebuild and clogged a passageway.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Hi Jeff Thanks for the response. I was thinking the same thing. I have carb cleaner, air pressure, and small wire to do a thorough cleaning. Is there anything else you could recommend? The two long jets on the bottom of the carb covered by the fuel transfer tube; do these come out for cleaning. They seem tight. Thanks, Rich

Q:

Starter 917271851 Craftsman Lawn tractor

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your lawn mower. Upon researching model 917271851; it sounds like the motor starter may need to be replaced. The motor starter allows the unit successfully starts the motor, so when it fails it can cause the unit to not turn on automatically, which is probably why you have to jump start, the unit to get it running. I have posted a link of the starter to view the link click here.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.
