Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you. I can understand any frustration you may have experienced with regards to your unit. Let’s see what we can do for you.

Sounds like it could be a carb issue. There could be a blockage or restriction in the carb. I would recommend either replacing the carb or rebuilding it. Also check the drive belt for the transmission. Making sure the belt is tight, not a lot of slack, and or any cracks.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. Again, thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.

Thanks for your reply. Carb is realatively new, i relpaced it a couple of years ago, it is the new design not the one that came with this model. I disassemble it, and there was junk in the cup, everything else looked good. Cleaned it and put it back. Checked all the belts and pulleys and they all look ok, does not seem that it needs to be tighter, but I am not sure. Tractor is still doing the same thing, uphill only in 1st gear, in 2nd or 3rd, it starts jerking until it stops.

Also, when i say stops, I mean stops going forward when uphill, but the engine keeps running, engine never shutsdown. Could this be an over streched belt?

Q:

I can not the shift lever to come out of neutral. What di I do ?? Thanks 917271750 Craftsman Lawn tractor

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help you. Upon researching model 917271750 I show that It uses rods under the shift lever. It seems that something underneath is preventing from moving the shift lever. Follow the lever underneath and see where it's getting caught at.

If you have any further questions please re-post. Thank you for choosing Sears have a great day.
