Thanks for your help with the electrical schematic for Craftsman model # 917271022 lawn tractor and I appreciate it very much but I would like to print just page 33 and as I try it will only print the whole manual which I can't do that. Would you be able to just send page 33 to my email address as an attachment and then I can print just page 33? Thank you so much for your help. Have a Blessed day. Fred Classing

Q:

Craftsman 917.271022 riding mower

A:

The riding mower is great for getting work done around the yard. I did some research but was not able to find an answer. I did find a picture of the deck that I am hoping is more detailed. I am adding a link below for you. Your expert will be able to assist you. It may take 24-48 hours to respond. I do hope everything goes well with the tractor.

Thank you Marc. I determined that the parts are brakes that stop the blades when the mower deck is not engaged. thanks

Doug,

I see that you have it figured out. If the brake arm was cutoff by one of the mandrel pulleys, I recommend checking the mower deck for a broken weld. Usually when the pulley cuts the arm, it is because the weld on the mount breaks. If you do find a broken weld, I recommend taking the deck to a local welding shop. They should be able to fix it.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thanks Mark for the reply. Other than for the braking feature on the deck the mower cuts grass! So I guess I can hold off on that goat for now. Take care.

My Craftsman 46" Mower Mod # 917.289244 purchased in May 2010, had a weld break on one of the back adjustment arms to the deck. Unfortunatly my warranty just expired in late May 2012, and I didn't get any entended package plan. But also didn't anticipate that this weld would break... Called into Sears with no real help because Out of Warranty, they said to contact Craftsman and perhaps they could help me out to my satisfaction...

Billy,

I am sorry you are having a problem with the tractor. We do not see welds on our tractors break very often nor do we expect then too. I will be happy to help repair this problem. I do not quite understand where the weld broke. If it was on the lift lever its self, I recommend replacing just the lift lever. If it was on the mower deck, I recommend removing the mower deck and having it welded at a local welding shop. While doing the repair I recommend cleaning top and bottom of the mower deck. If the deck has grass packed on the underside, it will add weight to the deck and cause more strain on the lift brackets. It is also recommended to clean under the deck periodically to ensure a quality cut. If you are able to take a picture of the broken part, you can up load it to the site. I will be happy to assist you replacing it. The parts can be ordered from the following link. Craftsman tractor parts
