Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your lawn tractor and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number 917270960 and I recommend checking the engine for spark first. To check for spark remove the spark plug. Then connect the spark plug to the spark plug wire. Now you will need to hold the base of the spark plug to a clean metal surface with insulated pliers. Once you have the spark plug in position have a helper turn the engine over. You should see a blue spark from the spark plug. If you do not have spark, remove the kill wire from the module. Then check for spark again. If there is no spark, the module is defective. It can also be an issue with the fuel or the compression. The first thing I would do is remove the fuel filter and pour a few teaspoons for fuel into the throat of the carburetor. Then try to start the engine. If the engine starts and stalls the problem is in the fuel supply or carburetor. Usually the carburetor needs to be cleaned because it has been sitting. Once the carburetor is cleaned, fill the tank with fresh fuel and check the operation. If the engine does not try to start with pouring gas into the carburetor the problem could be with compression. To check the compression you need to remove the spark plug. Then tuck the spark plug wire out of the way. Put your finger over the spark plug hole to seal it. The compression should blow past your finger. If it does not the engine has an internal problem. I trust this information will help you. Here is a video that may help you further troubleshoot.

Congratulations on the new tractor. While you wait for the expert to review the attachments for your model tractor you can check the manual for the hard bin bagger model 24897 if you like. You may be able to check the diagrams to see if it looks like it may fit or not. I attached the link below.

Thanks for your help. I tried putting a hard bin into the bagger 24019 in the store but it would not fit. I am looking to take the 24019 back and replacing it with the complete 24879 unit if it will bolt up correctly. Thanks again. Bob, Va.

Thank you for your question.

I have checked our fit up chart and the only bagger I show listed for your tractor is 24019. The other bagger will not work on your tractor. The reason is the lower chute and mounting bracket are designed to fit another style 42 in deck.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on the bagger.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Mark T, I wish I would have checked MML yesterday before buying the 24897 for my Lawn Tractor. You are correct in it not working on 24728881 lawn tractor. It also doesn't have the correct mounting for this lawn tractor.

Thanks Mark T. I did get the correct bagger (a floor model) at 1/3rd the cost of retail with all the parts. So I figure it was well worth the problem. Even though it wasn't a hard bagger I wanted, it did the job well. As for anyone thats has problems with the 24019 bagger, they didn't read/follow the instructions, as I have NO issues except having to keep an eye on how fast it fills, it performs well.
