Q:

Mowing 917270632 Craftsman Tractor

A:

Thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com, and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the uneven cut you are experiencing. I know how frustrating that is to have happen.

Believe it or not, tire pressure makes a big difference on deck levelness and cut. Make sure you check the tire pressure and fill to the recommended spec on the side of the tires. If tire pressure is not an issue, I would make sure the blades are in good shape and are not bent or damaged or loose. If they look fine, you will want to look into leveling the mower deck. The manual has a good section on leveling the mower deck on page 22. I have linked a manual for a similar model below for reference.

I hope this helps, and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Make sure that your belt is routed correctly according to the diagram in your owner's manual. Here is a link for the owner's manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual .

If the belt is routed correctly then you could have a spring that is broken or missing. This link of a previous answer describes the spring that you should find between Key 4 and Key 55 on your mower: How do you install the part # 174882 on the mower deck of a my lawn tractor?

Your mower will not be exactly like the one in the above link but it will be similar. If the spring described is disconnected, then reconnecting it properly should fix your problem.

It may take the physical examination of a technician to diagnose and repair this mower problem if the above information does not help. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .
