Q:

Grass Catcher 917270612 Craftsman Tractor

A:

Thank you for choosing searspartsdirect.com.

In order to get the correct part number of the grass catcher you want I will need a little bit of information from you.

1. Do you want a hard or soft bin?

2. Do you want a 2 or 3 bin bagger?

Once I have an answer to these questions I can provide you with a part number and the price of the bagger.

A:

Either hard or soft is fine. Prefer 2 bin bagger. Actually, I'm more interested in identifying the correct part numbers for the Lower Chute Attaching Latches, the Lower Chute, the Chute Latch, the Full Bag Indicator, and the Upper Chute for the correct Grass Catcher to use with the Model No. 917.270602 Lawn Tractor. I'm not necessarily interested in the whole Grass Catcher; but wouldn't mind knowing the cost of the correct whole Grass Catcher Unit for the 917.270602 Lawn Tractor. Thank you!

Q:

Why won't the replacement cylinder head match up with my engine?

A:

The part number I get directly from Briggs and Stratton for the cylinder head is 796186. The replacement head should be identical as far as how it fits up. I have a feeling that somewhere along the way some lines got crossed and you have the wrong parts.

I have a Sears riding mower model 917270612. The cylinder head is part number 495858. What is the torque for the head cylinder bolts?

A:

The head bolts on your Briggs engine should be torqued to 220 inch lbs. The intake push rod is aluminum. The exhaust push rod is steel.
