The thing that it could be for sure is called a protection loop wire. This part is going to be in the electrical system and its telling me is somewhere under the seat.

I found a video that could help you with this issue as well, click here to view that now. The part number for this protection loop wire is 532141940. You can order this at out sears parts direct webs site.

Q:

i started mowing the lawn today and my riding mower suddenly stopped and started making a loud buzzing sound. 917270534 Craftsman Tractor

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the tractor issue with the buzzing sound and no longer running properly. I know how concerning that is.

Does it sound like the buzz is coming from the starter solenoid? I would locate the starter solenoid and turn the key to 'Start' and see if you can find out where the sound is coming from. It could also be coming from the starter itself. The starter gear may be stuck or not engaging with the flywheel properly.

You could also take out the spark plug and try to turn it over to see if there is any hydro-lock. Can you manually turn the engine over when the plug is out?

Those would be the areas I would check into first as they would be the most likely. I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
